We make the history
stay inside the picture.

A studio for the memory of territories & the memory of the land. We don't just report a story we build the thing you read. Everything below runs live, right here.

We design and code the immersive piece ourselves, the part almost nobody in journalism does in-house. Everything below runs live on this page.

Narrative interactives that set our Reimagining the Spanish Civil War work apart: archival journeys rebuilt on the map, with original sound. Press play on each.

Mallorca · 1938
The bombers leaving Son Sant Joan
From Son Sant Joan, Italian SM.79 bombers reached Barcelona in under an hour. Between 16 and 18 March 1938 they dropped around 44 tons of bombs on the city, killing more than a thousand civilians.
Atlantic · 1937
A sailor going down the Atlantic
A sailor photographs his own voyage down the Atlantic toward Gibraltar, 1937. The prints, captioned by hand, trace the route south. The music is La Paloma, the habanera he would have known.
ThenNow
Drag to compare. The same place in Brunete, before and after. From Reimagining the Spanish Civil War.

Sites demolished or paved over, rebuilt as animated studies from archive and aerial work. We make a place that was erased legible again.

The Diagonal site, Barcelona. A space of repression rebuilt as an animated study.
Plaza del Callao, Madrid. Layered reconstruction of a vanished space.
Plaza del Duque, Seville. Reconstruction of an erased urban space.
Eixample, Valencia. Layered study of a transformed cityscape.

We track down, digitise and preserve photographic archives that were scattered, hidden or forgotten, and bring them back into the story. These are images we recovered and restored.

We compose hundreds of archival fragments into dense single images that hold a whole history at once. Catalogues, faces, brochures, postcards: read together, they say what no caption can. Click any to enlarge.

Visual Storytelling & Environmental Memory
An online class from the course

We design exhibitions as carefully as we make the work itself: how the images are sequenced, printed and hung, how a room is read from wall to wall. We have shown across Spain and at Les Rencontres d'Arles, and we publish our own books when a story asks for the page.
